Brief Profile

American, Spanish Speaking people are the descendants of Spaniard colonists and early Mexicans before the United States expansion and annexation of the United States southwest and other areas. They are often of mixed ancestral descent and are a melting pot of various cultures.

Throughout the Southwestern United States, long-established Spanish-speaking communities coexist with large numbers of more recent Spanish speaking immigrants. Although many new Latin American immigrants are less than fluent in English, nearly all second-generation American, Spanish Speakers speak English fluently.

A large majority of the American, Spanish Speakers claim to follow Roman Catholicism. However, many are at best nominal Roman Catholics. Many are also evangelical Christians.

Prayer Points

  • Ask God to work in the lives and hearts of American Spanish speaking people who have become nominal Christians or adhere to Roman Catholicism.
  • Pray that evangelical Christians will cross cultures to share the message of Christ with them in North America.
  • Ask God to work in the lives and hearts of American Spanish speaking people who claim no religion.
