Brief Profile

The Miskito are an indigenous people group who have come to the USA from their countries of origin in Nicaragua and Honduras. Ethnically, many of them are from a mixture of races. They have come to the USA in search of better economic opportunities and to escape tensions in their homelands.

Their primary language is Mískito, although some also speak Miskito creole English, Spanish, and other languages. Their primary religion is an ethnic religion which is deeply rooted in their ethnic identity. Conversion essentially equates to cultural assimilation. There are Miskito believers in Jesus Christ, and there is a translation of the Bible available in their language.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for the Mískito to find peace in Jesus Christ.
  • Pray that the gospel would spread rapidly among the Mískito.
  • Pray for Mískito believers to be bold in spreading their faith to their unreached people in their native lands, as well as to other people groups.
