Pidgin are a Nigerian English-based people who speak a distinct creole language spoken which is a lingua franca across Nigeria.

The language is commonly referred to as "Pidgin" or Broken (pronounced "Brokin"). It is distinguished from other creole languages since most speakers are not true native speakers although many children learn it at an early age.

Nigeria is home to over 500 different ethnic groups. Though there are multiple ethnic groups in Nigeria, economic factors result in significant mobility of Nigerians. Moreover, there is intermixing of the various ethnic and religious groups.

The majority of Pidgin speaking Nigerians claim adherence to some form of Christianity.
