Brief Profile

The Welsh diaspora people of the United States originated from Wales. In Europe, they are found predominantly in England and Scotland with an overwhelming majortity residing in London (over 300,000). They also reside in North America (United States).

For Welsh diaspora people, speaking Welsh is an important part of their Welsh identity. Parts of the culture are strongly connected to the language — notably the Eisteddfod tradition, poetry and aspects of folk music and dance.

The Welsh people claim affiliation with the Church in Wales or other Christian denominations such as the Presbyterian Church of Wales, or Catholicism. However, a large percentage are non-religious even though those may claim affliation with the Church of Wales.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for boldness among evangelical Welsh people to share the message of Christ and also answer the call of the Great Commission to "go and make disciples of all nations".
  • Pray for Welsh people who are "in name only" Christian, or are non-religious.
