Brief Profile

Yiddish, also known as German Jews, in North America are Yiddish speaking Jews who originated from a variety of places. A large majority migrated due to persecution during World War II.

Following the growth of Nazism and its antisemitic ideology and policies, the Jewish community was severely persecuted. Over half (approximately 304,000) emigrated during the first six years of the Nazi dictatorship. The majority of have established communities in the larger cities.

Yiddish is a language used by Jews in central and eastern Europe before the Holocaust. It was originally a German dialect with words from Hebrew and several modern languages and is today spoken mainly in the US, Israel, and Russia.

They often work in the business sector or own their own businesses.

They manifests a wide range of Jewish cultural traditions, as well as encompassing the full spectrum of Jewish religious observance.

  • Pray God will work through and in the lives of the Yiddish to understand and realize the need for a Messiah, as revealed through Jesus Christ.
