Latin American is used by Statistics Canada, sometimes referring to "Latino Canadians" and "Latin Canadians". The majority are multilingual, with three fourths speaking speaking Spanish and the remainder speaking Portuguese. They often claim that they only have one ethnic origin. Almost all reside in one of four provinces: Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia or Alberta. Moreover, they reside in major metropolitan areas with Toronto leading the way with over 30% followed by Montreal with over 20% and Vancouver being home to over 10% of the overall Latin American population in Canada.

The majority are multilingual, with over 75% speaking Spanish and the remainder speaking Portuguese. In addition, they are often conversant in either English or French.

An overwhelming majority come from a Roman Catholic tradition. However, most are more in name only Roman Catholic and often claim their adherences with a more secular non-religious lifestyle.
