Brief Profile

Bolivians are immigrants from the multi-ethnic South American nation of Bolivia, and may be ethnically Mestizo, indigenous (such as the Quechua), European, Asian or African. They may identify both as Bolivian and as their ethnic group. Their main language spoken is Spanish, although the Guarani, Aymara and Quechua languages are also common, as are a host of other native languages.

Because of their ethnic diversity, Bolivians also have a mixture of cultures, which frequently join together aspects of both Hispanic and Indigenous culture.

The primary religion practiced by Bolivians is a mixture of Roman Catholicism with traditional religious beliefs such as the Mother Earth cult of Pachamama and the worship of various gods of the indigenous peoples.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for Bolivian immigrants to encounter not just economic abundance, but abundant life in Christ.
  • Pray for Bolivian believers to stay strong in their faith and be a vital witness to their community.
  • Pray for Bolivian churches to multiply and thrive, and to catch a vision for reaching out to people groups around them and around the world.
