Brief Profile

Romanians are people who were born in Romania yet migrated to North America. Over 55% of all Romanian foreign born arrived in North America after 1980.

They speak Romanian. They are closely related, yet still a distinct people group in their own right, to the Moldovian people who also speak Romanian. Children of Romanian parents often learn to speak both in Romanian fluently.

Romanian culture can be seen in Romanian music, newspapers, churches, cultural organizations and groups.

Religion, predominantly within the Romanian Orthodox Church, is an important trace of the Romanian presence in the United States, with Orthodox churches in almost all bigger cities throughout the country. There is a smaller percentage of Romanians who are evangelical Christians

Prayer Points

  • Thank God for working in the lives of Romanian people to understand and receive the message of God's free gift of salvation.
  • Pray God will work through the lives of evangelical Romanians as they share the message of Jesus Christ.
