Brief Profile

The Turk diaspora has been established with modern migration, particularly in Western Europe residing in many countries. They are the largest people group in Turkey, as well as by far the largest among the speakers of Turkic languages.

Compared to Turkish immigration to Europe, migration to North America has been relatively small. However, the actual number of Turks in the United States and Canada is considerably larger, as a significant number of ethnic Turks have migrated to North America not just from Turkey but also from the Balkans (such as Bulgaria and Macedonia), Cyprus, and the former Soviet Union.

An overwhelming majority of Turks are Muslim, most of them being Sunni (Hanafi). A very small percentage (less than 1%) are Christian or Jewish.

Prayer Points

  • Pray that evangelical Christians will naturally share their faith in word and deed by becoming friends with Turks.
  • Pray that other evangelical Christians will come alongside other evangelical Christians to share the message of Jesus Christ with Turks.
  • Pray for Turks to experience a living faith in Jesus Christ.
